Spark Community Engagement
Communities, consumers, families, and youth should be able to make their voices heard on the issues they care about. Just as important, their voices should matter. Spark Policy approaches participatory processes and community leadership from the perspective that the lived experiences within a community are needed to solve complex problems.
We go beyond the traditional community meeting and other one-way, one-time interactions. We work with our clients to develop processes that engage those whose voices need to be heard in the definition of the problem, development of the solutions, and implementation of the change. We use a mix of leadership development for individual consumers and family members, capacity building with leadership groups to understand how to open their doors to new voices, and other research and community engagement strategies to expand the voices heard to those who are not in the room for every meeting.
Spark Policy's community engagement services include:
- Structured, multi-faceted public participation processes.
- Community meetings and forums that go beyond one-way, one-time interactions.
- Consumer, youth, and family engagement processes, from focus groups to leadership development.
- Research methods that engage community members as part of the solution.
- Public outreach materials.
